I admire your confidence Fergo and really want to believe, but I can't (despite being an eternal Spurs optimist) - the maths just doesn't figure now.
I can see us beating City at Eastlands, because I still don't rate them that highly and they've had much luck this season whereas we've had very little.
However, we never win at Anfield and to my despair (I despise their renaissance) they're playing pretty well.

you speak the truth re Anfield Tommo and if the game was tomorrow I would have less belief. Guess I just think (as per previous posts) that IF results go for us this w/e and IF we beat Citeh, we will have some momentum and will be able to smell the CL place again.

By the time we get to 'pool we will either be totally out of the running for CL or right in the mix - if it's the latter I think you will see a performance lift but I also agree that l'pool are playing well. I'm just erring on the side of optimism and sitting on the wall preparing for another big fall. grinny.gif

Apparently it is 18 games since we won a game by more than a goal.

This doesn't suprise me and is very upsetting!

We MUST beat Blackpool and City MUST lose to Everton and ourselves (the we HAVE to beat Liverpool away!). That's the only scenario that brings us to a shout of 4th place IMO. We've shot outselves in the foot with s*** results so many times that this is the ridiculous scenario we now face.

Making 4th again would just be the craziest miracle.

"clean sheet"? What is that journeyman?

I think there is more chance of us winning the title and signing messi in the summer.

Think a clean sheet is something I read about in a book, think the last time Spurs saw a clean sheet it was in their hotel room. grinny.gif

Team News:
QUOTE
Vedran Corluka is doubtful for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Blackpool at the Lane.

The full-back picked up a hamstring injury in last weekend’s defeat at Chelsea.

‘Charlie’ was filling in at left-back that day for Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who also remains out with a hamstring problem.

Tom Huddlestone will also miss the visit of the Seasiders with the ankle injury that ruled him out of the trip to Stamford Bridge.

...............Gomes..................

Kaboul..Gallas..Dawson...Bale

VDV......Sandro..Jenas. ...Modric

............Pav.......Defoe..........

Think thats the team he will start with. Maybe Modric in middle with Pienaar out left if he is fit, or maybe even Niko.

Pletikosa on SS saying how he regrets moving to Spurs. Can't say I blame him...I'd wonder how I'm not in the team if I was sat in the stands watching Gomes cock up TIME AFTER TIME!!

He's a no.1 international keeper...we should have given him more of a chance I feel.

I honestly hope the flapper doesn't play tomorrow. praying.gif

I know that some of their recent results look impressive, but I have watched and read about their last few performances and I think that the score lines have been a little misleading. They have had their fair share of luck recently, especially in the Newcastle and Birmingham games, and it wasn't that long ago that they were deservedly beaten by WBA. Having said that, we frequently fold at the sight of that 'This is Anfield' sign; last season they had half a side out against us yet we were still pathetic. I would love to play there, my attitude would be, 'F**k you...we are Tottenham; bring it on!'
We'll lose.

No JJ please.

Gomes???
Kaboul Gallas Dawson Bale
Lennon Sandro Modric Pienaar
VDV Crouch

Crouch is a must otherwise I don't know what Kaboul will do with the ball.
Pienaar will help Bale on defense.

We can bring on Defoe and/or Pav if needed.

Rose at left back? U having a laugh?

Defoe back on the pitch is a disgrace as well.

Rose at left back ?

Nice, I spoke about the fact that this may be the only position he could fill if he is to stay at the club, on the loan thread I think it was. Interesting, I like it, long as it pays off !

Apart from that wacky choice, team is as I expected

Rose has played at left back before, including for us in pre season. It may be the only position he could perfect, to make it at our club. How nice would it be if Rose was capable of being our back up left back ?

Quote from Nov 23rd in loan thread....

QUOTE
Rose - I like Danny, and he seems to be doing alright on loan, but if I'm honest, I don't ever see him being quite good enough to be a first team player for us, with no specific attribute properly standing out eg doesn't have the pace of Lennon. An option might be left back though, which Harry tried him in, in pre season. I think this should be explored more.

I don't know. I never thought Rose was that great defensively.
