Lamela is a massive part of our squad& when fit has been a regular starter in the big games & has been integral in our standout performances over past 2-3 yrs

Couldnt disagree more. He has had some good games here and there but to say he has been integral to some big games is insane. I get so frustrated when hes on the pitch because he holds on to the ball for far too long and usually gives it away. Im not denying that hes had some good games over the last 3 years but hes not good enough.

Im with Parky and Tomtom ....hes an important part of our squad who Im happy to keep. I wouldnt say hes in our strongest 11 when everyone is fit/available but he has good vision and dribbling, plus his pressing is tenacious and as others have mentioned hes turned up in some HUGE games....

I genuinely feel that with an injury free season he could be a standout player and could cement a first team place....he just needs to add a few more goals to the great assist record hes got.

let's not forget first time we finished 3rd he was 2nd top scorer in all comps (mostly in Europe admittedly) and 2nd highest assister. And that was after returning from a career threatening injury and being rotated regularly.

He can frustrate me too but the cold hard facts are that when he gets a run of games he contributes as a hard working team player and provides end product.

Bagged a hat trick and an assist in our first training game, means nothing in a 6-0 but a nice start to pre season for him.

I like Lamela ,he works his socks off and has some great skills. He does not score enough goals for us,his record being 10 goals in 110 games. At aroma he scored 19 goals in 62:games. Dont know how many sub appearances. The point is at Roma he played wide right in a 4-3-3 formation, which I reckon, with him,Son and Moura would suit us down to the ground and get us that extra width to stretch defences allowing Kane a bit more room to work his magic.

In his first season he was mainly used as a wide right in 4-2-3-1 but was useless to be honest. Was too slow and coldn't cut to the middle into good positions with the ball at his feet cause whenever he tried and got past one player, he wasn't quick enough and the other players where there to protect the beaten defender so Lamela's tries were usually ending in loosing the ball.

Wide right in a 4-2-3-1 is different to wide right in a 4-3-3 system

Changed my opinion last night if lamela.

His work rate was exceptional and his assist for kanes goal was outstanding.

Best performance in a spurs shirt.

Poch said today he's fit and available for Barcelona, so looks like it was only a minor onjury which kept him out not for long... Hopefully... :praying:
