I know that I am a very new member to this forum, but I am amazed that nobody has started a thread extolling the virtues of Victor Wanyama. I think he and Dembele have formed a fantastic defensive midfield partnership, which allows Poch to play with a back three, releasing Walker and Rose/Davies to play in wide positions. I have lost count of the times Wanyama has broken up promising opposition attacks and lets not forget that he has chipped in with a couple of very important goals also.

Wanyama has added defensive steel to the midfield and must be one our best buys in a long long time. In my book he must be in with a shout for player of the season

Been a few threads elsewhere in the season but agree he's been superb. 2nd best DM in the league after Kante this season so far. Great signing - particularly when you consider how little we got him for.

Probs our most consistent but think I'd possibly give it to Toby or Alli.

Shame about Rose's injury or he'd definitely be in the conversation for me

Toby! He just brings a cool calm leadership. He seems to make everyone better.

I think we really miss this player.

Cant wait to get him back in the side.

Cant find any updates on his knee injury but he posted " positive vibes " on instagram

He,s massively important to the team in his defensive midfield role.

Our best buy last season.

We keep losing key players and its annoying.

I heard op looking extremely likely but not a set time on return.

If Dembele were 100% fit we wouldn't be missing him as much but having both of them out simultaneously is a big issue for our midfield. Glad Winks is stepping up or we'd be in real trouble.

First Lamela, than Rose and now Wanyama, Dembele literally all the time even when he's playing. Something must be wrong with our medical staff or/and training sessions in preseason. Maybe Poch is overtiring them before the season. There's no other team with so many serious injuries in last 2 years.

this is true but the season before we had the best injury record in the prem... A lot of these are freak injuries too by the sounds of it. Dembele has been a sicknote pretty much since we signed him, and as he gets older the issues are mounting up and he's not able to shake them off as easily.

Lamela we know was signed injured. Rose has been injury prone throughout his career, this last one was a nasty one.

On the plus side it looks like Rose and Dembele are approaching match fitness, but we'd definitely be stronger with Wanyama and Lamela.

Checked a few articles including a tottenham journalist who sat in on a poch interview and news is wanyama is on course for a return end of the year or early 2018.
Whether or not this is accurate or not ????????

Wanyama says he feels fit and he's counting the days for a first team return but officially club are just saying he's training on his own. Still, seems the rumours of him needing surgery are wide of the mark.

He trained with the rest of the team for some time today. Not yet the whole training but seems like he'll be in contention sooner than later. He'll be more than welcome.

Have we won some big games recently or something?? It’s almost like someone is trying to unsettle us

It's a Gerrard quote taken out of context. He said they need a "Wanyama-like player" so press headline was "Gerrard tells Liverpool to sign Wanyama"

I am not sure what has happened to Wanyama. He is certainly not the same player he was last season, before his injury.

Here's hoping he can get back to those heights soon
