There's some things you can judge from a tournament though. Down to the scouts to see what attributes people show in slower international footy translates to the prem

Suarez for example was quality for Uruguay and proved to be world class.

Excellent and firmly established himself in the England team.

Marker laid for Aurier !

Aurier will most likely start the season as Trippier will be very late for pre season and probably not match fit for first few games, but if Serge doesn't impress then Kieran will make right back position his own for another campaign.

Great world cup and has confirmed he is a better wing back than right back.
Delivery from dead ball situations were exceptional and consistent.
Well done tripps

made Sky's team of the tournament. Only Spurs player in the XI and one of only two Englishmen with John Stones.

He's now made the official team of the tournament as voted for by fans - along with Hugo which is a bit odd after his gaffe in the final (although he had a good tournament!).

Also seen him in several other team of the tournament lists based on stats or pundit choices. I've yet to see one with him not in it, so seems he's undisputed best RB/RWB in the tournament.

Spurs braced for 50M bids for Trippier after Madrid and other major clubs show interest

https://www.thesun.c...-50million-bid/

If you'd have asked a couple years ago which of our RBs were likely to be on Madrid's radar after the world cup you'd have got long odds for Trippier!
