PLayed two won 2 not a bad start beating Wales today. It was close in the last 15 minutes though Wales reall came on strong and could have nicked it, but our defence was brilliant. Not happy about the ammount of penalties conceded though.

It showed today that a comment i mad last week to someone was no fluke, I said that I thought that the Welsh team were a lot faster than they used to be and today showed it when they broke through they had real pace, and at one point a try saving tackle was made by us that all stemmed from a Welsh break, so all round a good result for us.

managed to see most of this match, I played rugby at school but some of the rules now confuse me. Journo, did you think the Welsh should have been awarded the try for the one handed grounding that the TMO ruled out. All the guys in the studio thought it was a try, but the replay guy said no.

Can you explain as I don't know what that rule is.

clearly TMO got it badly wrong thankfully for us. My initial reaction was the try was GOOD, then I thought something must have happend in the build up ie fwd pass, off side, or something, but no the build up the kick was all bona fida and his fingers were clearly on the ball, whilst the english players hand was slightly above the ball, so for me the try should have stood.

So no problem with the build up, all I can think of is the fact that the english players hand touched the ball first (ie grounded in goal) it was done with force and at speed and his hand bounced up a fraction and at that very moment the welsh player got finger tips to it there by making it look all over a try, thats all I can think of, but if it wasnt that the video ref made a massive balls up and needs new specs. :niceone:

Not being a big union fan mor League personally, I too am now a bit confused by some of the rulings!! :getyacoat:

I thought the try should have been given tbh. Funnily enough Journo, I thought that we (the English!) were pretty good at NOT conceding penalties - we used to give them away like handing out sweets in the past.

Their usual kicker was injured I believe, maybe that played a part.
