Right all you experts (and those that like a horse for appearence or its name) bit of fun comp for the four days of cheltenham, so please have a go, but of course if you like a flutter you can go ahead and back your donkeys :grinny:

A few simple rules nothing to technical in the scoring just going to keep it simple
1st 10 points. (a winner picked at 10/1 or greater will also get an extra 5 bonus points)
2nd 5 --"--
3rd 3 ---"--
4th 2 points (where 4th place is applicable)
Sould there be a dead heat (very unlikely)then both horses will get the FULL points for that place.
IF YOU PICK A HORSE AND IT DOESNT RUN TOUGH NO POINTS :grinny:
AND THE LAST RULE IS ONLY TWO (2) FAVOURITES PER DAY. WILL YOU PUT AN ASTEREK BESIDES YOUR CHOSEN FAVOURITE PLEASE. :grinny:

Cheltenham starts on Tuesday 13th March for four days there are 7 races on each of the days so @10 for first there is 70 points a day at stake and over the four days 280, see who can come close to that magic figure. If you did and you didnt back your nags you'd be as sick as a parott.

FINALLY ALL MUST POST THE NAMES OF THE 7 HORSES FOR THAT DAY BEFORE 13.00 (please write them down in race card order IE 13.30, 14.00 etc that way makes it easier for scoring for me.) I am the cheltenham steward for this comp so will allow a bit of freeway in posting time, but certainly entries not allowed if posted after the off of first race. :grinny:
As i say just for fun unless tomtom wants to make you PS champion tipster in your avatar or something.

Cheers mate, hope we get a few takers, as I say its only for a bit of fun, but od course you can if you choose back your selections, and become a millionaire :grinny:

I have already got 5 single e/w bets on, plus Ive put 4 of them in a L15 E/W, so megga bucks upwards of 70k if they win. :praying:

The first prize donated by tomtom is a season ticket to Arsenal :lmao: :lmao:

Just a suggestion, but you might want to limit the amount of Favs you can pick on any particular day, otherwise the reward for a 50/1 winner is the same as a 1/5 winner. It will ruin the comp. if someone just picks favs for every race.

Thats a fair point mate good on yer. OK i will throw back a question to you, and we see what comes back.
1/ There are 7 races a day at Chelt's what would you say then would be a fair number of races to pick Favs.
2/ based on what you said would there be any mileage in doing the scoring a point per S.P, IE 20/1 win is 20 points, 9/4 rounded up =2/1. therefore being 2 points? The place points stay as per first page? I know this will make the scoring a bit more complicated, just a thought, but that way as you say if you found a 50/1 you'd be rewarded for it?

Not sure as adding up all the points may take some time if it were done on SP's, but it is the fairest way to score.

I suggested having a limit on favs each day (say 2) but a horse may not be fav when being picked but could end up as an SP fav.

Difficult one to decide, but I'd wager I'd win if I picked every fav across the entire meeting as it stands.

If time is a problem for adding up scores, change it to one horse a day. Make it a nap contest and use SP's to score..............hope this helps.

This might interest a few more posters, landing a 25/1 fluke because the horse has a funny name is a great leveller and more light hearted fun.

Mike ! The cheltenham festival is one of the most competitive race meetings of the national hunt season along with aintree.

There,s lots of prize money to be won by owners and trainers and any horse with any ability & decent form will be given its chance.

Personally i would leave it the way you have it right now .

Someone backing all favourites at the meet will be out of pocket.

Massive tip is the irish dont save their best for the meeting for nothing.

NO time issue mate. I did try backing favs one year small e/w bets, most got a place one or two won the rest lost and I won about a fiver. I think I will leave it as it is Yidio, but will add to the rules on page one that only two favourites on each of the race days. :niceone:

Agree, the Irish do save their best. I always used to back P. Nicholls horses when ridden by Ruby, but wont be backing paul nicholls this year, will do Ruby riding for Willie Mullins, and barry Geraghety's mounts. I will take yidio's suggestion of only 2 favourites a day. I will add that to page one. Cheers guys.
and dont forget tomtoms 1st prize of a "Le Arse" season ticket. :grinny:

Journo, why not add a bonus point score for any horses that win with an SP above a certain amount, say 10/1 gets extra 5pts and 20/1 gets an extra 20 points.

Trying to put some deserved value into picking out a proper bookie basher.

Lets be honest here, a 20/1 winner is worth 20 times what an evens fav is..................and if we get 10 points for an evens fav winner, by rights, a 20/1 winner ought to worth 200 points.
