Bad news for the league. If he is replaced by someone good then Arsenal could be a big threat again. Especially if they win the Europa league this year.

All that aside, even though they are our rivals, a man who has given a lot to football and one of the few long term managers in existence. 👏👏👏

I'd like to be the first to wish Alan Pardew all the best in his new position. I have to say I'm quite surprised that the Arsenal board have chosen a relatively low profile Englishman to take over Helm when Arsene steps down this summer.

It's a complete change considering the lack of English development that Arsenal have championed under the leadership of Mr Wenger, but it has to be said it is both bold and brave as they enter a new chapter in their history.

Congratulations Alan Pardew and good luck

Its an early announcement and designed to goad the the players up to qualify for the cl through a successful europa campaign.

He might be stepping down but he wants to go out on a blaze of glory and ffs i hope it backfires on them.

Where are they going to find another manager whose name is nearly the same spelling as the team?

Hang on though, what about Frank De Boer

Crowd are going to get right behind them now and cheer them over the line. Didn't think they'd win the Europa at all pre announcement, worried they might now. The players and fans will now hypocritically give their all to see him leave in a blaze of glory, after downing tools and booing him just days ago.

Yep, they've deserted this team as their stadium is now half empty. Still claiming an almost capacity attendance every game though.

I won't respect this announcement one bit, it's self serving and a bit classless whilst the season isn't yet over. I think it shows how far in the s***e they are when this cannot do any damage to their own team. That's the truth of it.

I think Wenger's successor will have even tougher task than avid Moyes when he took over at United after Ferguson. I expect just like it was in United's case a period when the club will have to learn how to work under another man's guidance and I think they will have a few bad seasons now. And I mean realy bad - finishing around 10th place. In United's case the slip was from 1st to 6th but as Arsenal are already an average team they will finish mid table as they will get even weaker now.

If they get a guy who can build a team, they have the money to back him. I hope they bring in Anchovie, he just seems to old these days and I'd rather that than a younger more innovative lesser known.

Bad feeling they may sniff out Rafa, hope not.

I disagree tbh. Fergie left Utd with an average squad people expected to win the league as they had just done so. Wenger will have left Arsenal with a decent squad (at least attacking wise) and no expectations on them winning the league any time soon.

I think Wenger is actually quite angry, he's taken a big swipe at the fans and I Don't blame him one bit.

Worst keeper in the top9, out of their defence I think only Monreal would get to the bench of any of the top 5 clubs (and maybe Koscielny but none of them would be starters atn any of the top 5 clubs IMO), their midfield pairing this season was often El Neny, Xhaka, hardly impressing to say the least and to be honest it's Brighton's level more less. Yes, their attack is good, but other than that this is an awful team. And even in the attack they lost plan B by selling Giroud and instead they bought Aubameyang who is a similar striker to Lacazette.

Soon find out how his last roll of the dice turns out. I think the fans will turn up and get behind the team, but that will soon evaporate should the players not turn up.

I know he deserves to go out under better circumstances, but I seriously hope they get dicked out of sight.
