Ok, back 3 or flat 4 ? I feel sure we'll us a back 4 and not push our FB's up the pitch against Barca, initially at least.

Don't remember last time we played a real flat back 4.

lol!

Harry definitely did it a fair amount... I don't see Poch doing it against Barca, although Davies would probably be better in that system.

if Wanyama is rested Saturday and starts vs Barca I'm not adverse to 3 at the back... Rose and Aurier on the wings with Wanyama in front and a back 3 looks much more sensible.

I'm stuck on camping out on the edge of our own box with a 4-5-1, :lmao: I may be giving them to much respect

You might be right. But I'd like to think Wanyama, Dembele, Jan, Toby and Sanchez on defensive duties would be harder to get through than say... A flat back 4 with Dier in front.

Unfortunately, our defending of late is more akin to what we're used to. Gone is that strange comfortable feeling when protecting a lead, I was enjoying that.

It's true. Under Poch we'd almost never lost from a losing position, I think once in the league in 3 years. Now we've done it twice in quick succession you do have to question what's gone wrong, I don't think it's unfixable though. Just a couple players need to step back up.

Maybe. He wasn't well rated when we signed him but he's been solid when called upon.

Part of me is thinking complacency, when you know your a guaranteed starter maybe some players took there foot off the pedal.

possibly... but surrendering leads is more of a midfield / defence problem and I wouldn't say anyone's position is safe there. Dembele was nearly sold, Wanyama started over Dier at DM when fit, Toby's already been dropped for Sanchez and who our first choice full backs are when all fully fit is anyone's guess.

If anything maybe the constant rotation / changing of lineups (often due to injuries) is what's cost that resilience, if it was all built on chemistry and rapport.
