They were both Premiership clubs and isn’t it that only foreign clubs can talk to Premiership players in January if they are in the last few months of their contracts whereas a Premiership club cannot make such an agreement with a player from another Premiership club?

They would not have to wait until the Summer.They could sign him on a pre contract in January as they did with Aaron Ramsey.
