Spot on, don’t see the rugby players doing it. It’s meaningless as meaningless as players holding kids hands as they walk out onto the pitch. The kids would be excited but even more excited if more of the players paid them some attemtion

Racism is a state of mind which sometimes results in racist actions. They can take the knee however much they want but it would be very unlikely to have an effect and even be a cause of racist actions.

However when they take a knee does it stop and make me think about why they are doing it? to be honest yes I do and therefore it achieves it’s purpose of raising awareness!

By them taking a knee it doesn’t just raise the issue of Black Lives Matter but wider issues of abuse to.

Footballers in particular receive huge amounts of abuse on social media - Harry Kane has just received a load.

If by taking a knee they raise awareness then fine by me

Rugby seems not to have the same level of abuse that footballers receive.

I’m what some of you might call a snowflake, or woke, but even I think that taking the knee has made its point and has run its course. There comes a point in any act of protest that the longer it goes on the effect it originally desired diminishes. That’s not to disrespect why it was done in the first place. The education of racial equality will go on, but it needs to move on from sportsmen (or women) bending down.

Oh, and I will add that racism doesn’t just go one way. It happens across many ‘divides’.

The issue is why it 'offends' people , not the issue that its out of date and has little effect anymore. Those are VALID reasons to stop Taking the Knee... but not one on here can explain why it offends.
