Sunday we will play Fulham in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

We've beaten Fulham twice already this season in the league. Last October we edged it at Craven Cottage with a 1-2 win courtesy of a Huddlestone scorcher from 25 yards out. On New Year's Day we beat them 1-0 at The Lane after a game with little chances at both ends.

Spurs reached the FA Cup's fourth round by beating Charlton 3-0 at White Hart Lane. Defoe netted twice after young winger Andros Townsend broke the deadlock just after half time.

Fulham thrashed League One's Peterborough 6-2 at Craven Cottage to advance to the fourth round, helped by a Diomansy Kamara hat-trick.

We will be without our star man Gareth Bale who's out with a back injury. He's expected to be rested for 2 weeks after a back injury recurred early on in last week's away game at Newcastle. Gomes is expected to make a return after his absence at Newcastle. Although both Woodgate and O'Hara are back in training and making progress they are unlikely to be featured in Sunday's match. Ledley King still seems way off and is rumoured to be out for the season. Tom Huddlestone will also be absent due to injury but he is expected to be back in contention in February.

Fulham have 5 injured players. Aaron Hughes is likely to be out long term for the Cottagers. Etuhu and Briggs look doubtful for Sunday's match. Although both Bobby Zamora and Phillipe Senderos are making progress in their recovery from serious injury they are both expected to not feature in this FA Cup clash.

potential banana skin here I feel, and it will be if we are not on top of our game, but taking the teams as a whole I think we have more than enough to deal with what ever they can throw at us, so I predict a 2-1 win for us, Also with a few changes through the game!!!

starts for sandro, corluka and bassong as they have been on the outskirts of team first team. maybe also gio if there is need to out him more on the shop window, maybe the last 30min if we can afford it.

would also like to see as playing 442 for a chance and see how that goes.

gomes(if need for more rest then cudicini)

corluka- dawson- bassong- bae(ohara/bass if bae still not fullyfit)

lennon/vdv- sandro- modric/vdv-pienaar

defoe - crouch

rest for modric, lennon and vdv when we are sailing to easy victory in second half

If we don't play 4-4-2 I am certain we are going to lose, they have majority of their players back but will have Stockdale back in goal? Caught the last 10-15 mins of last nights game, looked like Fulham were completely dominating liverpoo!

& For God's sake play Pletikosa if Gomes is still injured Headbanger.gif

why do you think we will lose if convert away from 451? because we have looked so good with this formation all season? until recent 3 games we had a great run of results, but our game was't too convincing at any point. before we bring a striker that suits this formation i'm sure we will continue to drop points on more or less regular basis. a cup game would be good time to try a swicht of formation.

i also saw the hightlights of yesterdays game and fulham looked dominant, but still i belive we can beat them and yesterday after all it was pool that they were playing againts...

I think we are going to need a good balance in all area's of the pitch, Craven Cottage makes the play pretty congested and we don't have bale for lethal counter attacks. Arry will probably start with 4-5-1 and pack the midfield just feel we might lack on the final third of the pitch if we only have one striker and don't think we can soak up too much pressure in defence. 'Best form of defence is attack?'

You never know though, we might sign Luis Fabiano before Sunday so he can play lone striker biggrin.gif

Maybe we should start with Townsend for Bale to keep pace on the wings. If it doesn't work out we can sub him for Pienaar.

can see a loss here. I dont think we will be up for this and i expect fulham will be guns blazing.

Bale is a big loss, our strikers might as well not run out, in fact why not play 4-6-0, it would make no difference and probably have less chance of conceding.

Hopefully pansil will play, he might score for us - he was deadly up front for liverpool, in fact he has more goals than defoe and the same as crouch.

I would like to see him play 4-4-2:

-------- Gomes --------

Kaboul - Dawson - Gallas - BAE

Lennon - Palacios - VDV - Modric

------ Defoe -- Crouch ----

Gareth Bale misses out but Harry Redknapp could have three players back for Sunday's FA Cup tie at Fulham.

Welsh flyer Gareth will sit out the fourth round encounter at Craven Cottage with the back problem that forced him off after just 11 minutes of last weekend's draw at Newcastle.

"He's been to see a specialist and it shouldn't be too long, a bit of work on it and he should be okay," reported Harry at Spurs Lodge on Friday morning.

"He's never, ever needed an operation. That's the last resort when you have a back problem. He has a little back injury that went into a spasm, but he should be back in 10 days."

Roman Pavlyuchenko and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are fit again after missing out at Newcastle and Heurelho Gomes was back in training on Friday morning after picking out a shoulder injury this time last week that ruled him out at St James Park.

Wilson Palacios was also sidelined last week and remains doubtful for Sunday with a swollen knee.

Sandro is also doubtful with a back problem. "We've one or two knocks and we've only really got two central midfielders fully fit in Luka Modric and Jermaine Jenas," added Harry.

Longer-term injured Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Ledley King (groin) remain out.

In that cas I say we go with this;

Gomes

Corluka Dawson Kaboul BAE

Lennon Modric Palacios V.d.V

Pav Defoe

(Maybe swap V.D.V and Modric??)

It seems to me that the line-up for,and the result of, Sunday's game are likely to depend on how serious 'Arry is taking the competition. He has always given lip service to the importance of the FA Cup, but he must have the UCL last 16 match and the race for 4th place in the back of his mind as well. Personally. I would rest VDV and Gallas for this one. Both players are injury prone and given Fulham's aerial threat, Bassong would be a good choice to partner Dawson at centre back, being taller than Gallas. BAE should return and I would give Kranjar a run-out on the left. He can cut inside leaving space for BAE to exploit on the overlap.
Play Lennon (or Pienaar)and Charlie on the right and play LM and Kaboul in the centre, as defensive midfielder, or Sandro in that role if he is fit. I would prefer the latter, let's see what he is all about against half decent opposition!
I would play Crouch and Defoe up front...the big man would be useful helping out in defence re corners and free kicks...he can mark Hangerlaan.
I've got a feeling that this will be like the Bolton game with the same result. Fulham have picked up recently and some of their players are returning from injury as well. Never easy to beat at the Cottage.

Pav good option, if he's even in the squad due to the transfer merry-go-round. Just not sure about Charlie, Kaboul is my favourite option in right back out of the lot, his pace and runs might help down that wing too; decent team though, def have to play 4-4-2

No rest for any players, F.A Cup is important! Niko has no workrate to play in this game, they will pressure us in big time trust me, Dembele is back and AJ is getting fitness. Hangeland will have Crouch in his pocket, need someone with a bit more flexible/pace up front.

I've a good feeling about this match and I am quietly confident we will beat Fulham in the Cup on Sunday. It could be our Year in the Cup as it does end in a 1 afterall. . . nice1.gif dancing.gif
