A report from The Daily Express is suggesting that Chelsea boss Avram Grant is ready to prise away in-form Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov from Spurs.
The report, which surfaced in The Daily Express this morning (10/04/2008), suggests that Chelsea are prepared to fight off stiff competition from the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid with an incredible £20m bid, almost double what Spurs paid for the striker only two years ago.
With further reports today saying that Didier Drogba has agreed a 3 year deal with AC Milan, Avram Grant could see Berbatov as a replacement for the Ivorian hitman next season.
Although nothing has been said by Bulgarian himself, quotes from Ramos suggest that even he is unsure of Berbatov's future at the club.

I wouldn't call £20m 'incredible'. That's bare minimum. £30m or £35m is a closer match to his value, especially if you're selling to rivals. |

Good comment James, 30 - 35 is more realistic. If he is to go, it has to be to la liga, seeing him play for Chelsea or Man U would be devastating

Spurs will not sell Berba to another prem league club - they made that mistake before with Carrick. He will go to La Liga or Serie A for £30m or a swap. Just hope we don\'t get Eto\'o - that guy has really gone off the boil. |

WTF? This is another b******t story from a tabloid that is one of the worst for 'exclusives'. After the Arnesen incident there is no way any player will move between these two clubs for a long time yet. Berbatov will be going to Spain or Italy NOT another British club and that's final. |

Avram (Igor) Grant lives in a dreamworld.
Juande/Comolli should accept the £20m... but only with Joe Cole and either SWP or Wayne Bridge |

Nice to see the usual class from Chelsea fans. Like team like fans. Class is one thing money can't buy.It drives us neutrals to swilling United to win the double. sad but true. |

not sure spurs will let him go to an english side as it would make it just as hard to close the gap at the top and ramos knows it.I hope he stays for one more season and gives ramos ago to see if he can turn spurs into atop four side |

In reply to the chavski mouth off\'s. Berbatov is not \'sh*te\' far from it infact, the guy is a genius, a world class standard player. He does have a lazy style of play, and his body language stinks, but calling him sh*te really shows you lack football knowledge.
I cant see him going to the Chavs as they play boring thump it up pitch balls. Berbatov will want to play in a team like spurs who pass it around with flair and skill, but who are currently in the champions league.
If he did go to chelsea, they could pay us 20million plus cuddichini and cole!
I think he will be sold abroad though! |

Haven\'t spurs already said he\'ll cost 25million to European clubs and 35million to British clubs. An offer of 20million is an insult |

What a poor article!
What was your source; "fat bloke down the pub said"
ManYoo were preparing £20m+ a year ago.
£25m+ for foreign club.
£35m+ for English club.
Milan, Real and Barca are in front of Chavski in the queue.
Mind you; swap for Drogba & Joe Cole might be reasonable. |

Why would a £20 million transfer fee be deemed incredible? It's Berbatov we're talking about not Ronny Rozenthal. In my opinion we shouldn't sell him to and English club for any less than £30 million at the very least. |

We're going to be European champions, I don't think Berbatov is at our level, and I don't know why you yido cunt's are getting cocky just because you got your first cup in 100,0000 years it's the shittest cup anyway and most teams don't even want it. Why dont you yido cunts try and beat us in a cup that matters to us... why dont you try and reach the champions league final next season and see the beating you yidos get OH YEAH I FORGOT YOU WONT BE IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NEXT YEAR WILL YA HAHAHAHAHAH |

If Drobga leaves Chelsea they would be looking more towards Hollywood for a new actor with the skills of their current star striker. I hear Tom Cruise is available for £35 mill. |
